Matzoth Recipes For Passover

Shalom friends, this year on March 25th, Jews all around the world will celebrate the Passover Seder. Passover is an eight day festival. It is celebrated in the early spring, from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan. This holiday represents freedom which commemorates the Jews’ Exodus from slavery in Egypt. During the eight days of Passover is it forbidden to eat Chametz. The meaning of Chametz is leavened grain including all kinds of bread, Pasta, cake, cereal etc.

This custom is derived from the unleavened bread that the Israelites ate when they left Egypt. In their hurry to leave, the Israelites did not have time to wait for their bread to rise so they made Matzah.

That is the reason why instead of Chametz, we eat Matzah which is a flat unleavened bread.

Today I will teach you 2 tasty Matzah recipes:the first is Matzah Brie (Fried Matzah) and the second is Matzah balls. Both of them are very easy to make even if you’ve never made them before.Bon Appétit!

Matzah Brei Recipe:

Matzah Brei

6 sheets of Matzah

4 eggs

Salt and pepper to taste

1. In a large bowl, break Matzah into bite-size pieces.

2. Sprinkle with a little boiling water to soften Matzah.

3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs.

4. Add eggs, salt and pepper to softened Matzah. Mix well.

5. Heat oil in a frying pan. Cook Matzah-egg mixture over medium heat, stirring as if cooking scrambled eggs.

Matzah Balls Recipe:

2 large eggs

2 Tbsp. vegetable oil

1/2 cup matzo meal

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1-2 Tbsp. water or chicken soup

2 quarts salted water, for simmering

Matzah balls

1. In a medium bowl, lightly beat eggs with oil. Add matzo meal, salt, and baking powder and stir until smooth. Stir in water, then let mixture stand for 20 minutes so matzo meal absorbs liquid.

2. Bring salted water to a boil. With wet hands, roll about 1 tsp. of matzo ball mixture between your palms into a ball; mixture will be very soft. Set balls on a plate. With a rubber spatula, carefully slide balls into boiling water.

3. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 30 minutes or until firm. Cover and keep warm until ready to serve.

A little late for the Seder, but for the rest of Passover and the futrue, Yehuda makes a fantastic GF Matzo-Style Squares. They taste like baked potato chips, but look like matzah. The package has the Proud Sponsor of Celiac Disease Foundation logo so it is all good. I am not GF but tasted it and now I am eating it also.

Hi there. I googled best cotcolahe chip cookie recipe, or something similar and came across several recipes. Yours looked the closest to what I wanted. There’s a bakery in town that makes the best cotcolahe chip walnut cookies. They’re slightly dry-chewy-crunchy on the outside and moist-chewy-chocolatey on the inside with at least a walnut bite every other bite So I followed your recipe pretty close, just adding some walnuts and maybe a little less cotcolahe chips. Also, I didn’t have baking soda and felt ashamed to substitute a larger portion of baking powder. I do not own a mixer so I improvised doing it all by hand. I kept the butter a little colder but it probably is best to do this with a mixer. Despite the inconsistencies, Wow!!! I was not dissapointed. I just ate 2 and a half with a glass of milk. After writing this comment, they’ll have cooled the proper amount of time. I think I’ll go have another right now. Thank you for sharing!

I have been making the Jacques Torres recpie for the past few years, but yours is much tastier, has better texture, and is easier. Win, win, win! Thank you. I found that cooking at a higher elevation the addition of an extra egg yolk did the trick, and the cookies turned out crisp around the edges and chewy in the middle.

We’ve got an “almost 14″ (year old) dwarf rabbit who suivrves wonderfully on matzeh and matzeh meal goodies; he never turns his nose up at the stuff (although I think he prefers the softer Shabat hallah he gets the rest of the year). But no ha-reef; he’a a Polish (not Moroccan) dwarf bunny, but “strictly halak.”Hag kosher v’samach

There are actually plenty of particulars like that to take into consideration. That may be a great point to convey up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration however clearly there are questions like the one you convey up where an important factor will likely be working in trustworthy good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged round things like that, however I am certain that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both girls and boys feel the affect of only a second
