Today our Blog will be a little bit different: I would like to represent to you an interview with Yariv Bin nun. Yariv is the founder and the joint CEO of the eTeacher group. The interview took place at Premier Christian Radio, Jerusalem. Wednesday, September 21, 2011.
As some of you may know, eTeacher’s online language Academy was established in 2000 .
Since then , tens of thousands of students from over 100 countries have participated in our live online courses . Enjoy!
Lizzie: John is there, and you’re joined by a very special guest this morning, aren’t you John?
John: I am indeed. He’s a man from eTeacher, he is Yariv Bin nun. Say hello to the world, Yariv.
Yariv: Hello for the world!
John: Good to have you here! Tell us exactly what they do. What do you do?
Yariv: Ok, so … eTeacher is a school, but it’s an online school and we teach online.
We’re based here in Israel, but our students are all over the world, and the main focus of our school is teaching Hebrew.
We have thousands of students all over the world and we teach Hebrew.
We teach Hebrew and we speak seven languages here from Israel, so we are able to approach
students who speak English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese.
J: So if you speak any of those languages, you can teach those people to speak Hebrew.
Y:Yeah! It’s actually online, so you sit at home in front of your computer.
Soon it will be also available on you iPad, iPhone, Android.
And you see the teacher on video and you interact with a small group of about 5 to 6 students and you enjoy Hebrew classes with the best teachers from the Holy land.
J: This is fantastic, because I know … and the web address since then, if you want to look this up, what we’re talking about, is eTeacherbiblical.com,because there’s been a huge revival in the Hebrew language. It fell into disuse for almost 2000 years, didn’t it?
Y:Yeah, yeah. I mean, actually, I was … you know, I’m an Israeli, I’m Jewish, I was born to this language, but this is true, this was not a spoken language for many years. Now it is. But we, eTeacher, we teach both languages: the modern spoken language, what we call modern Hebrew …
J: Oh, I see …
Y: … or the Biblical language, for people who want really to be able to read the biblical text in its original language.
Next week: the continuation of the interview.
